The wine
The 2018 Sauvignon Blanc from Yountville and Coombsville was fermented in 30% new French oak barrels and aged in stainless steel. With notes of peach blossom, green apple and citrus, it offers refreshing citrus and savory layers on the palate with a vibrant finish. Additionally, in February 2019, Robin Lail was appointed US representative to the Porto Protocol, a global climate change initiative. Lail Vineyards' Blueprint wines celebrate these environmental pioneers who put the planet above financial interests. An invitation to get involved and inspire neighbors.
The winery
Robin Daniel Lail's legacy began in 1879 with the founding of Inglenook Vineyards by her great-great-uncle, the iconic Captain Gustav Niebaum. As early as the early 1890s, under Niebaum's obsessive leadership, Inglenook wines gained a reputation as the best in the country.
The dedication to excellence continued after Niebaum's death in 1908 and reached its peak in the thirty years following the repeal of Prohibition under the careful leadership of John Daniel Jr., Robin's father. The collection of Cabernets from this era are still celebrated today as some of the best red wines in the world.
Although Inglenook was sold in 1964, the passion for winemaking did not wane. Robin inherited her father's respect for tradition. Today, her family honors his legacy with the tireless pursuit of producing wines that stand up to comparison.
